I bought this bad boy in 2014 for a trip to Australia. Ended up backpacking for 3 years (not daily use as I stayed in places for longer times to work). Everytime the pack comes out on another airport conveyer belt unharmed despite being packed to bursting, I am amazed at the quality. All zips and buckles are unharmed. And I squeeze stuff in there so tight the pack can't even fall over any more. Like I would hold on to the top and slam it against the floor to compress everything down. I have also done through-hiking, carrying it with full camping gear, food and water for 25+km a day and had no issues with straps/discomfort. Against recommendation, I've had it in the tumble dryer (precaution because of bedbugs in the hostel) and he survived just fine. Of course the pack is not perfect, more side pockets and straps would at times have been handy. But given the price, I am so impressed how well it is lasting me.
It's a nice bag, it looks good, and is fairly practical and incredibly cheap. It has front opening, which is great.
There's only one problem, though - the straps aren't padded or strong enough to last, after 4 months backpacking in Europe, they are worn thin and are no longer very comfortable, essentially being reduced to the thin fabric tensioning straps that seem to be the main load-bearing structure.
If I had to choose again, I'd spend a bit more money and get something a bit more fancy. I am in fact doing this as we speak.
I used this bag whilst wild camping in the Cairngorms for three days. The bag is durable and put up with the harsh conditions well.
Poor design in the form of narrow back straps with little padding meant that the bag rubbed on shoulders causing immense discomfort. In addition the side pockets are small and provide limited use.
The item looks great and has proven to be reliable.
No flaws or failures.
A real eyecatcher.
This product is fine for what I paid for it. It’s no way as robust as a high end bergan but for 40 quid it does the job.
A canoe liner will be required in case of a down pour as this is definitely not going to keep your kit dry.
Another worry is the outer zip which seems flimsy and could burst open with a heavy load
Lots of pockets large and smaller ones.
Interior can be separated into 2 compartments with draw strings.
Differing height adjustments on shoulder straps for comfort.
Nice choice of colours
Bought it in order to take a band-saw bc f its cost and I thought "well.. wcs.. it will do its job"
Must admit, I was surprised. Carried 18 kg in it without even notice. After the flight I was more surprised to see how the fabric stayed, not even a little mark of the use. Since then trekked few times, one in the Israel National Trail - more than 900 km, almost 2 months of trekking - a great job!
Just could do with a few more pockets / sections for smaller items on outside perhaps.
Quality product, thoughtfully designed
I bought this for an 8 day trip to Jordan. I'm 5'3" and managed to set it up to fit me with an arctic sleeping bag strapped to the bottom for sleeping out in the desert. The slim design is great for public transport and the side and top access make getting to things and repacking very easy. The zips appear strong. All in all, it appears so far to be a well thought out bag at a very good price.
Ease of access, slim design, spacious pockets
