I absolutely love my new Elops bike! If you're dithering about getting one; don't. They are fabulous. I bought it for my new, hilly commute.
Firstly - it is really comfortable. I'm 5'9" so I went for the large which is definitely the right decision as I borrowed a medium from a friend to try it out.
Secondly - it feels really sturdy and safe when riding it.
Thirdly - it is really easy to use - from riding it and getting used to the settings through to charging, removing the battery and using the control panel.
Fourthly - I had exemplary customer service in store from Mick and Olivier in the Sheffield branch. They were excellent.
Literally, the only improvement is that I need to buy a good bell!
Having Knee and leg problems,it was suggested by my doctor, to try gentle excercise on a bike. being totally unfit and age 60 with poor mobility and overweight, the idea of a bike was not really something i was enthusiastic about. Anyway god loves a tryer,so i thought i may need help, hence the idea of a Ebike. So i researched i couldnt cock my leg over a normal bike, so defo had to be a step thru. wading thru the web and bike sites ,the prices and quality was unbelievable in differences. i needed one that would be robust, one that would last. My decision in the end was to try the Elops E900 from Decathlon. I really struggled my first couple of rides.trying to get everything comfortable for me. But after investing in a gel saddle cover, gel cycle pants, and ajusting handlebars and seat. after a few rides its all to my liking. I started with 1mile and a little more days after. I am now on week 4 or 5, and averiging 2.5 to 4 miles per trip local, also feeling less tired each time. my swelling has reduced in my hankles and i feel a little better in general. I can highly recomend the Elopse900. after some practice its easy to ride, the help from the motor becomes second nature, once you get the hang of it. The price was £999, battery is long lasting, i now feel comfortable with it.
So i can highlty recomend it to someone starting on the E Bike journey :)
This is very good value for money for money I have the large step over model very well made and stylish and for the price it is miles ahead of other bikes in price range.
I cycle every day and on the weekends on either a single or my racing bike and after visiting Amsterdam was after something more sedate and comfortable for cycling to the pub (and electric as it's technically her indoors bike). This bike has exceeded all expectations! Comfortable, fairly well made and good looking. All i need to find out now is how to remove the 15mph limiter :)
Bike came with excellent service making sure it was road worthy right from the store and that I was happy with the set up. It’s a very good and comfortable ride and really good value when looking at other bikes with similar specs. After 2 weeks use have had no issues and I’m getting a good few days from the battery and so easy to charge. Sounds a bit like an old milk float when on high power setting but who cares when it does all the work. I got the bike through cycle to work scheme and would highly recommend if you’re after an electric bike.
JUST THE RIGHT BIKE FOR THE PURPOSE.
The bicycle E900 are really comfortable, the ride is smooth. I am recommending it for all how want to ride and enjoy the road.
I do about 20 miles a day on this e-bike; in the morning I cycle 10 miles to my rowing club and from there to work, and then at the end of the day from work to rowing and then home. The bike makes my commute enjoyable and quick, even carring >8kg of cargo on the saddlebags. Even the most fearsome hill, though still a bit of work (I do come out of the saddle) is much quicker. The mechanical disc brakes are essential for my mixed urban/rural commute especially on steep country lanes. The battery easily lasts me a whole day and a half (I mostly use modes 1 and 2, saving 3 for the steepest hills).
I did have a stiff chain link annoying me a week after I bought it, which caused annoying jumping and a chain coming off, but the Decathlon team replaced the chain with a new one free of charge. So keep an eye out for 'teething problems' in first week or two of purchase.
Make sure you register for Decathlon loyalty BEFORE buying this bike, as then you will have enough points for at least £15 off some saddlebags (I use https://www.decathlon.co.uk/500-double-rear-pannier-bike-bag-2-x-20l-id_8385335.html ).
If you are moderately fit then this is a good bike for my commute, but if you are a little older or carrying more things you may need a bike with a proper crank drive to get you up the steeper hills. This one has a rear hub motor which is adequate for me but may not be for you.
